The Niven family has been involved with livestock for well over 100 years. William (Pa) Niven was a beekeeper at Eugowra NSW in the 1800s and in 1892 was awarded second prize in NSW for an Apiary with over a 100 hives. Billy, his grandson, owned and managed Eugowra Tamworth Pig Stud which successfully exported to Singapore.
John, Billy's son, after shearing and working in Foreign Affairs, Canberra settled in Bimbi in 1985. John began breeding Border Leicester rams with a higher tail set resulting in a meaty hindquarter in his X bred lambs.
Paul, John's son, graduated from Sydney University in veterinary science and contributes to the health management and selection of stud stock.
